Volunteer Opportunities

As a volunteer-driven organization, we rely on the dedication and generosity of individuals like you to help us achieve our mission. Whether you're an experienced mycologist or someone who's just getting started in the world of fungi, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and make a difference.

Meetups. The best way to get involved with our club is to sign up for our mailing list, where you’ll get direct email invites to all of our events. You are also more than welcome to join our Facebook group where we identify and discuss mushrooms of Greater Philadelphia or follow us on Instagram for highlights of our events and cool stuff we find. We host guided walks, forays, trash cleanups, webinars, cook offs, and social events year round. All of these events reflect different parts of our mission for fungal education, community, and land stewardship, and we’d love for you to attend them. We often need help setting up at events, extra hands during the identification process, and folks who are willing to lead small groups on the trail. If you have a car, you can also help carpool other members by coordinating on our Facebook group or by sending us an email at [email protected].

Trash Cleanups. We also host trash clean ups and stewardship activities on the first Sunday of each month in Cobbs Creek Park from 2-4PM. This is a great, low commitment opportunity to volunteer and give back to our community and the environment.

Digital Documentation. By using the iNaturalist app, you can document your fungal findings and contribute to a growing database of mushroom species in our region. Not only does this help in the identification and mapping of various species, but it also aids in scientific research and conservation efforts. Your simple act of capturing and sharing your discoveries can lead to larger understanding and appreciation for these remarkable organisms. So, even from the comfort of your own explorations, you can be a vital part of our club's mission. Download the iNaturalist app today, join our project, and start documenting your mushroom findings!
